However, if you've spent any significant amount of time with any other version of Arcade Stage or its console ports, you're likely in for some disappointment with the gameplay. It does stand head and shoulders above the other console titles when it comes to graphics and story, and the relatively poor physics can be worked through with some determination. This isn't to say one can't have fun with Extreme Stage though, especially considering that it's one of the very few options we have for playing these games at home. I know the series is supposed to be an arcade-style racer, so unrealistic physics can be forgiven to some extent, but this one just really went off the deep end compared to every other console and arcade game in the series IMHO. There's also very little consequence to just slamming your way around the course. There's basically no weight or delay to the rotation of the car following a steering input, leading to incredibly quick, wild drift angles with a strange disconnected feeling to how you're actually steering your way around a corner. Simply put, you don't feel like you're driving a car.
